I see you Mama!

To All the Moms out there, single, married, military etc I See You, Mama

Hey mama, I see you.

I know how hard you are trying.

I know that you are questioning so much of what you do, even when you know it is the right thing.  Especially during this time of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Decisions like choosing to stay home, or to go back to work. To let them have a little screen time, or to stay screen free. To send them to public school- Face to face or virtual or homeschool them. All of the millions of ridiculously tiny and impossibly big decisions that you have to make, every day.

I see you. And you are doing an amazing job. There is no wrong decision right now. You are doing what’s best for you and your children and there is nothing wrong with that.

You are making them eat their veggies, teaching them how to brush their hair, and making time for the things that really matter – hugs, kisses, and time spent simply being together. This is one of the most important things you can do right now, spending time with them, letting them know you will always be there because the more you do it now, the more they will come to you when they are older.

I know how late you stay up at night, worrying about all the things. I know this because I do, too. We are both moms, and we’re far more alike than we think sometimes.

Your choices may be different than mine, but we both get there from the same place. The place of motherhood. The place of simply wanting what is best for our kids. There are so many ways to do things in motherhood, breastfed vs formula. Cloth diaper vs disposable, just to name a couple. Whatever decision you make, it the right one for you! Do not let anyone else tell your differently. Everyone’s situation is different, and they don’t know yours so they can’t judge yours.

Making these choices is about wanting the best for the people we love the most. When I think about it like that, those ridiculously tiny and impossibly big decisions do not seem quite so ridiculous or impossible anymore. They almost seem natural. Like the thing I was born to do because we were born to be moms! We were born to do this. Our bodies and minds were made to think this way to and make decisions that are best for our family. You are stronger than you will ever know. Trust yourself. Trust your mind, your heart.

Mothering these babies of mine did not come easily to me. The early days and years were such a struggle. And if you are going through it still, know that it gets better. I feel like I blinked and suddenly my worries changed from sleeping schedules to school schedules, from the first solid foods to the first meal made by a child for our family.

And somehow, I have not seemed to mess it up too badly just yet. And neither have you.

So, the next time you worry, or question your decisions, or are tempted to look to someone else for the answers that are already in your heart, remember this:

I am there, too. You are not alone in these struggles. And we totally got this.
